Welcome

We hailed from varied backgrounds. We gathered to sing joyfully. Singing together reinforced our sense of unity and creative sharing among our members and our community. Our last music director, Mikko Rankin Utevsky, selected songs from many world cultures, movies and theater, in addition to classical choral works. Our audience got a chance to sing during our concerts, too, thanks to topical singalong selections.

Our rehearsal and concert activities were suspended due to health and safety concerns regarding COVID-19 and its many variants. After a few years of suspended activity, most of the officers reluctantly agreed that the group’s momentum was irretrievably lost, and that the best course would be to dissolve the group. We couldn’t see a way out of this.

Over time, other community based groups apparently reached the same conclusion. But, some have been able to sustain their efforts in the Madison area. For now, this web site will be left up as a loving reminder of what the Choral Arts Chorale offered us. Thanks to all who supported us.

Our friends at the Madison Choral Project professional chamber choir produced a video with Scott Gendel’s beautiful and moving music in reaction to the pandemic. “Awakening” carries a strong message. Please watch it.
