Jana (pronounced yah-nah) is another of our superb accompanists!
Jana Avedvan, pianist, hails from Kharkiv, Ukraine, where she studied with Glazirina Tatiana. Jana majored in piano performance. She studied with Dr. Karen Becker at SUNY Plattburgh (2007) and has participated in master classes with Evgenia Tzarov and Helen Huang. Avedyan made her debut (spring 2011) as soloist with the Manhattan Chamber Orchestra, playing Mozart’s Piano Concert K. 488. She completed her Bachelor’s degree with a double major in Music and Accounting (May 2012). Jana and flautist David Breisach won the annual Shain Woodwind-Piano Duo Competition (2013), Avedyan won the annual Beethoven Competition (2014).

After her studies with Christopher Taylor she graduated from the University of Wisconsin School of Music (2018) as a Doctor of Musical Arts. Her dissertation explored and promoted the solo piano works of the Ukrainian Composer, Myroslav Skoryk. During her studies. she participated in master classes with Peter Miyamoto and Joel Hastings. She was a finalist at the UW-Madison Concerto Competition (2016). Her performance of Rachmaninoff’s second Piano Concerto with the UW student orchestra took place in 2017. Jana frequently attends festivals such as Brevard Music Festival and Bay View Music Festival.
